10) Written Proposal for Nick - 15/10/17

TASK: written proposal (200 words - outlining your idea, initial approaches to be explored, sources of research that you intend to engage with to help inform yourself about subject/approach).

My idea for the curiosities and obsessions brief is all about capturing happiness, whether that be other people's or my own. Initial approaches I'd like to explore are happiness manifestos, photographing the BBC lifestyle 'steps to happiness' within my own life, as well as going on to create my own manifesto to then photograph. I want to depict this in various different ways, for instance shooting some in the studio as still life photographs, and then some in my own home or out in different environments. I want to make these photographs quite playful and bright and minimally composed, drawing inspiration from Elise Mesner's 'Idealistic Surroundings' and Klaus Pichler's esotericism work. Other research I've looked at/am going to look at is the Photographers Playbook to try and direct my work in more creative ways, as well as looking at Jason Evans' 'The Daily Nice' website to highlight that it's not all about the finished images, but also the creative process itself.
