When looking around Offprint 2017 while we were in Paris, I picked up a couple of zines which I liked the layout of to look at for inspiration on my own finished piece.
The first zine I picked up was by Kengo Kuma, depicting small architecture and natural architecture. I really liked the style of this zine because its two individual books that fit nicely into a sleeve. I also really like the spines of each zine, and how the text from each book lines up to display 'architecture' with the words 'small' and 'natural' also being visible but going off centre of the spine. I feel this joint title really brings the zines together more and you see them as more of a collection. If I end up making 2 zines for my own project this layout is definitely something I want to try out and consider.

The next zine(s) I picked up were by Amalia Pica (see picture below). I love the 3 distinct sizes and colours of each zine, and how they fit together nicely. I also like the layout of looking through the zines, where you start at the smaller book and work your way up to the bigger zines. It keeps your work separated but connected, and gives the viewer a distinct way to view your images, and I like this effect. Again if I have multiple zines within my finished product this is a layout I will consider.

This final zine I noticed is definitely one of my favourites, and it's by Erik Vermeulen. This zine links up comments to people's profile pictures and the pictures themselves, however it gives you the choice as to whether you want to read the comments or just look at the images. I think this folded concertina style works really well in this format, because it keeps some of the content hidden to the viewer. I know I probably won't be including text with my images because I want the images to speak for themselves, however if I was to I think this is a great layout to have, because of the choice to read the text or not. I also like how the centre of the zine is vertical and not horizontal, different to the usual features of a zine.

Going to Offprint 2017 while we were in Paris was really beneficial because it allowed me to start thinking about how I want to layout my work, while also showing me the endless possibilities of this. I'm excited to start thinking about the layout of my final images, however I need to keep shooting first to have the content to work with in the first place.
