Gina Lundy created a zine called 'Fantastic New Community' which focuses on housing estates in London which face contractors who wanted to re-develop the land, subsequently meaning the residents had to be moved out of their homes. The zine focuses on the experiences of the residents, their homes, lives and ongoing protest against re-location. I thought this related to my own project because the residents of Greenbank View are also facing adversity as to where their homes are parked.
Below are some of my favourite images from the zine and how they inspire me for my own project.

The reason I like these first two images is because they document the small details of how people living in these London estates have personalised their home. I think this portrays a lot more empathy to the viewer looking at the zine, because it shows these individuals are real, and need somewhere to live, and their being moved from a space which they've already made their own. This is something I want to do with my own project, illuminating the small, personal details of the van dwellers homes to hopefully project a feeling of empathy to the viewers of my own work.

I like these second images because they underline the fighting spirit of the individuals living in the estates, who clearly do not want to be moved from their homes, displayed from the signs on fences and in the windows of their homes. With a mix of these above images, the insightful home orientated shots and some environmental portraits, the viewer is brought into the world of the residents, seeing what they see and feeling what they feel. This way of photographing the signs and feelings of the residents is another aspect I'd like to try in my own photography, as I know within the Greenbank community they have various signs and notes which are used for the same purpose.
Overall I feel this artist study was pretty helpful for my own practice as it has a similar subject of interest, meaning I can take inspiration from the style and focus of the shooting. Seeing the images in a zine format also makes me start thinking about my own final output, and how my images can be best exhibited for full effect.
