The second flash shoot Liz set us had a bit of a different brief, outlined below.

I paired up with Sam Mitchell and took photos of him at St George's Park in Bristol, as this was a place his dad used to take him a lot when he was young, so has strong memory attached to it. My contact sheet of the images I took can be seen below.

As you can see I took images of him in a variety of spots within St George's Park, including benches he used to sit at, the pond, and the skate park. Four of my favourite and most successful images can be seen below.

I like these first two images image because they depict Sam in a full body shot, whilst also getting in the surrounding environment such as the pond or the bench - which he used to visit a lot previously when he was younger, and are key features to the park. I like how there's an equal amount of space around him in the frame, which I think make them both a successful shot.

These last two shots are my favourites because they're both close ups, allowing the viewer to engage with the subject a little more. I feel this was achieved successfully because of the shallow depth of field used - which was 3.2 and 2.8. I decided to change up the environment a little as you can see in the final portrait, because the skatepark in St George's Park was another place Sam used to visit a lot when he was younger.

I found this flash shoot a lot more fun than the previous one because we got to shoot with someone we know and are more comfortable with, which I think helps me create a more successful portrait as I'm more relaxed. I now need to transfer this feeling to strangers to enable me to photograph them better, which will come in handy for my Creative Interactions brief.
