On Monday we came back from Easter break to an edit tutorial with our whole tutor group. So I printed out what I thought were some of my strongest images from all the shoots I'd done so far (around 30 images) and in the tutorial we started to lay them out to see what works and what doesn't. We focused on taking out the bad images and pairing up the others to see if they worked well in a specific sequence or set of diptics or triptics. Below is a contact sheet of all the images I decided to print off to start with.

After placing our favourite images out on the table, these were the layouts we came up with:

I'm pleased with the images they chose, but it also highlighted to me that I need to do more shooting in terms of portraits and more small detail shots so I have a wider variety of images to work with, as well as more successful, striking images. After this I want to make a final edit and get onto making the layout for my final output, which we spoke about later in the tutorial.
I also took down some notes in the tutorial which you can see below, with some pointers on more artists and artist interviews to look at, as well as output ideas and more shooting that needs to be done. We spoke about the idea of presenting the images in some form of book, potentially a hardback copy to submit and then cheaper made zines to give to all the people in the project. However I feel this could still be quite expensive to produce so I need to think about this further.

Overall I'm really happy with how the tutorial went, I got some more great artists to look at, time to look at my images and edit them down with the help of the rest of my tutorial group, and it has allowed me to see what steps I need to take next to finish the project - shoot once more, start making a layout and decide how I want to output them, and get the rest of my research done.
